Vernell Dawdy

Vernell M. Dawdy 86, of Pecos passed away Tuesday November 26, 2019 at the Reeves County Memorial Hospital. She was born May 30, 1933 in Celeste, (Hunt County) Texas to Felton Henry and Clarene Miller Henry.  She married Jackie Joe Dawdy, August 16, 1949 in Dallas, Texas and were married for 31 years until his passing on March 22, 1997.

Vernell worked at Carlton Shoe Store and worked at the Pecos Garment Factory. She enjoyed working in her garden and was an active member of North Temple Baptist Church. At times she was also known to use her left hand to keep order in order at home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jackie Joe Dawdy and sister Lorene Thompson.

Vernell is survived by her daughter Debbie Marie Jones and husband Danny Frank of Lubbock, Texas., sons Danny Joe Dawdy of Big Spring, Texas, Tony Dawdy and wife Yolanda and Dewayne Dawdy and wife JoAnn all of Pecos, Texas.

Ms. Vernell also leaves to cherish her memories 4 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Visitation is set for Friday November 29, 2019 at 6pm-9pm at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services are set for 2pm Saturday November 30, 2019 at North Temple Baptist Church with Pastor James Henderson and Pastor Kevin Zimdars officiating.

Interment will follow at Mount Evergreen cemetery.vernell
