Ricardo Leyva Corrales, 89, of Pecos, Texas passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, Texas. Ricardo was born in San Antonio Del Bravo, Mexico, on October 18, 1933 to Arcadio and Cruz Corrales. He moved to Pecos in his early teens, he studied at the University in Monterrey, Mexico, and received a degree from the University of Texas, he attended RCA electronics school Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a very good cook and owned a restaurant in Coyanosa, and in Kermit, Texas, he also owned Corrales Music World in Snyder and in Pecos, Texas. He was a broadcaster for KSNY radio in Snyder and KIUN in Pecos also in Radio Station in Post, Colorado City and Monahans. He had a TV show in Monahans, and Abilene. Was a long-time member of LULAC, Kiownas, Lions Club and the Knights of Columbas, and NAACP, he was a board member of Western Texas College and the Boys Club of America. He worked with the Council of Governments helping youth with job education, he was active member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Snyder and Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Pecos, Texas. He played minor league baseball for the Cleveland Indians, and he coached baseball for Texas Teenage organization.
Ricardo is preceded in death by his parents Arcadio and Cruz Corrales, his sister Edalia, his brothers Valente, Francisco, Arcadio, Juan, and Manuel.
Ricardo is survived by his sons Ricardo Diaz, and Jose Luis Corrales. Married his wife Maria Corrales on November 20, 1962, and had a son Arturo Corrales. He is also survived by his sister Lilia Singh from Ft. Stockton. His grandchildren Luis Arcadio Marcos, Christopher, Angelica, Roxxievette, Amanda, Alejandra, Victoria, and includes 20 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Luis Arcadio Corrales, Miguel Baeza, Chris Gil, Christopher Gil, Josiah Pena, and Zechariah Salazar.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 9 am to 9 pm at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home with Rosary at 7 pm.
Funeral Mass will be on Friday, May 19, 20233 at 10 am at Santa Rosa Catholic Church, with Interment following at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.
