Bernardo "Chaquen" Martinez passed away on December 27, 2020, at the age of 83. He was born on December 21, 1937 in Saragoza, TX to Eligio & Julia Martinez and lived the majority of his life in Pecos, TX.
Bernardo served as District 4 Reeves County Commissioner for 20 years. Chaquen attended Odessa College and the University of Texas at Permian Basin where he obtained multiple certificates, became a peace officer and received a Bachelor’s degree in criminology.
Chaquen was a people person and enjoyed visiting various restaurants and local establishments to visit with friends and talk about politics.
He is survived by his wife Maria de Jesus Martinez; sons Ernesto & Andres; daughters Juanita, Angela, Teresa, Veronica, Katy & Mezthly, SIblings Sebastian, Ramon, Juana, Maria Edia, Monserrato, Loretto & Silvia. Many grandchildren, great grand children, & great great grandchildren as well as several nephews & nieces.
He is preceded in death by parents Eligio & Julia Martinez, brothers Armando & Lionel Martinez.
Viewing will be Sunday January 3rd at Pecos Funeral Home 607 West 3rd Street Pecos TX from 3pm to 5pm
Funeral service will be on January 4th at 2pm at Pecos Funeral Home 607 West 3rd Street Pecos TX. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
